What is the mission/purpose of the film festival?
The film festival is aimed at highlighting notable films and videos of Muslim interest, to educate, enrich and entertain a diverse audience. We provide a platform for them to share their artistic expression by screening works that offers an image of Muslims and Islamic culture. The Muslim Film Festival empowers, entertains, inspires and celebrates cultures and communities while appreciating the diversity of Muslims worldwide. Festival programs foster pride and creativity in the community; strengthens the Muslim identity; provides a forum for diverse discussions; offers a unique venue for minority and independent artists; and encourages artists to present films/videos that reflect their culture.

Who is eligible to submit?
Anyone can submit their film. We also accept entries from International countries that feature English subtitles. Submission films must contain some element of the Muslim world cultures or perspectives. We encourage and accept a full range of artistic diversity in the films from all filmmakers and producers

Does the work have to be about Islam or Muslim culture only?
The submissions we accept are not limited to subjects only pertaining to Islam or Muslim culture. We encourage and accept a full range of diversity in the content of works by all producers, including non-Muslims.

What are the guidelines for submissions?
Films will not be considered if they include: Excessive or gratuitous violence, nudity or profanity.

What submissions do you accept?
We accept all genre’s as long as it contains elements that meet our mission.

Is there an award for the festival?
Currently we do not offer awards, financial or otherwise, to the filmmakers. However, we may reconsider this policy in the future.

Can the 'Muslim Film Festival' be held at other college campuses in the United States?
We hope to expand to other locations in the future but currently our base is in the vicinity of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Can the festival be co-sponsored?
Yes, we welcome partnering with other multi-cultural organizations

Can we purchase the videos we see at the screenings?
We do not handle any purchasing but maybe able to provide you with the contact information of those film/video makers so you can communicate with them directly about purchase orders.
